Johann Pachelbel

Pachelbel's Canon

Piano

Pachelbel's Canon was probably composed in the late 17th century and nearly fell into obscurity for a while – it wasn't until the 20th century that recordings made it popular again. Today it's one of the most famous classical pieces of all time.

The work is built on a constantly repeating bass line and chord progression, over which increasingly complex voices unfold. In the piano version, it's ideal for practicing repeating patterns, broken chords, and clean articulation.
